Client: Cheshire East Council
Location: A6 Disley
Value: Circa £500,000
The scheme delivered improvements on the A6 Buxton Road through Disley, as part of a package of works linked to the A6 Manchester Airport Relief Road.
This scheme demanded a sensitive approach to delivery, with so many residents and road users affected by such a significant scheme. This was achieved through robust planning processes, collaborative working and regular open, informative dialogue with affected parties. The work delivered junction improvements in key locations on the A6.
Features of the scheme included:
- Provision of new signalised junctions
- New carriageway surfacing (HRA with pre-coated chippings)
- Road markings
- Improvements to existing kerb-lines and footways
- Provision of new advisory cycle lanes
- Signing upgrades and improvements
- Junction realignments providing visibility improvements
- Formalising existing ‘on-street’ parking
- Upgrading existing crossing facilities
- Provision of a pedestrian refuge island
The works required complex phasing to include night working, weekend working, traffic management and road closures.
The scheme was completed safely, on time and on budget.
